  • Utah Film Festival and Awards (submission info)

our film belongs in the Utah Film Festival.

Submission Deadline for all films is January 31 2019.

    Live Broadcast Winner
Everyone that enters the LIVE BROADCAST CATEGORY is eligible to win the $500. Films in this category will be streamed LIVE on our Facebook page during the festival.

The winner in each category will receive a beautifully engraved trophy and a news story about their winning entry on the Utah Film Awards website.

Our judges are actively looking to acquire shorts, features and series to broadcast all over the world. Your submission could warrant the biggest prize of all, the deal you broke with one of our distributors if your film is selected.

Winning Short and Feature films will be offered a non-exclusive distribution agreement on Film Zone.

One (1) complementary pass to Scriptfest: The Great American Pitchfest to pitch your screenplays.

Winners will receive an InkTip Script Listing and have their logline featured in InkTip Magazine so they can promote themselves and their scripts to InkTip’s entire network of producers, managers, and agents. InkTip Magazine is sent to over 15,000 producers and representatives.

Companies who are InkTip members include: ABC, Anonymous Content, APA, CBS Films, HBO Films, ICM, Paradigm, Paramount Pictures, Hallmark Channel, FX, Universal, WME, Echo Lake, Zero Gravity, Bad Robot, 20th Century Fox, and many more.

Producers have made more than 350 films from scripts and writers found through InkTip.

We're always at your disposal. If you need additional assistance or have any questions, concerns, or suggestions, please contact our customer service ( You can also call us at +1 (801) 472-7702.

Refund Policy: Because entries will have been processed and entered into the system, NO refunds will be granted.

To be eligible for the 2019 competition, entries must have been completed between January 31, 2017 and the festival date for World Premieres.

Projects from all over the world are eligible. Submissions DO NOT need to be made in Utah to qualify unless you are submitting in the MADE IN UTAH category.

Select the category that most closely relates to your submission's type of program. You may enter the same production or program in multiple categories, including cast and crew categories. There is an entry fee for each category you enter. Individual entries are evaluated for their intrinsic merits – without comparing them with others.

Each entry is, in effect, in competition with itself, and is measured by our international award-winning jury of experts using an industry-accepted standard of excellence. The Utah Film Awards reserves the right to expand and reduce the number of finalist in each category including, but not limited to, cancelling categories if there are no submissions that meet our standards of excellence.

A performer/on-air personality may enter multiple achievements in a performing category if the achievements are for different programs.

We reserve the right to change or modify each category as the Utah Film Festival committee deems appropriate.

Submissions for SCREENPLAY must include a pdf of the screenplay. We accept produced and un-produced screenplays. The work is being judged on the writing rather than the finished film.

The short film category includes one episode of a series.
See Categories listing for definitions and additional explanations.

    Fees for Screening Films
We do not pay screening fees on submitted films. By submitting to the Utah Film Festival and Awards you waive any screening fees during the run of the festival to a live theater audience.

    Award Announcements & Promotion
Finalists will be announced in March and the winners will be announced at an awards ceremony in Utah in April 2019. The Impact Award will be announced at that time.

Press releases will be sent to international wire services and to the trades. A laureate will be sent to winning contacts following the awards presentation. Utah Film Award® winners may refer in advertising and publicity to the fact that they are a Utah Film Award ® winner and, for one year after the award was bestowed, may use a replica of the Utah Film Award ® award or the Utah Film Award ® logo in such advertising. A ® registration mark must accompany the use of the award.

    Background Summary (Required)
In order to better assist the jury, we ask for a synopsis of each entry. This should not exceed 200 words and will be seen by the judges to evaluate your submission.
All submissions also are required to submit the following on
    Project link
    Password (if applicable)
    Phone number
    One Promotion Graphic (min)
Credits - Specify in the FilmFreeway credits who is being evaluated with their real name (not character name). Example John Doe - Lead Actor, Jane Doe - Composer, Mike Doe - Editor, Awesome Company - Visual Effects. (Key Cast & Crew are not accepted)

Translation (Required if not in English)
Productions not produced in the English language must have either subtitles or overdubbing in English (preferred), or a detailed synopsis and translation of the first and last ten minutes of the entry in English submitted during the online entry process.
The translation must be submitted digitally either in the translation box provided on the online entry form or as a word document or a pdf. We will not accept translations in any other format.

    Mailing Trophies
We anticipate not all winners will be present at the award ceremony to receive their award. Winners that would like their trophy mailed to them are required contact the organizers, provide a current mailing address and pay all shipping fees.

When submitting your credits, be aware that if your entry is a winner, the name of the category, and title of the entry will appear on the award which is given to each winning entry. By entering, the entrant agrees to hold Workman Productions ® and any of its affiliated companies exempt from any costs or expenses of any claim arising out of any such use. Welcome to the Global Game Jam 2019 for Utah!!!

For those that haven't been to the Global Game Jam yet, it is an event where people come together, form small teams, and create a game in three days. This is a chance to learn from your fellow devs, practice your weasel tongue with some networking, form powerful bonds with a bunch of exhausted strangers, or give the game industry a test flight. No experience is necessary, we’re all here to have fun and learn something, no stagnant fools allowed! If you’re a student this is a good chance to work side by side with experienced game devs.

Unless you let us know what you need asap you will need to bring your own tools. We do have a few spare laptops right now but if you let us know early we can get more if need be.

Free Food, Courtesy of our Sponsors:

Actual Meals - We will have some sort of meal at some point during the jam, most likely it will be light breakfasts and one or two dinners. Lunches are up to you because we’re heartless.

Snacks and junk - We will provide a random assortment of snacks and drinks(at the least there will be coffee and donuts)

This event is free and open to all!!! Absolutely no experience needed. You are free to work remotely, however it is recommended that you at least attend the opening and closing of the event.

Huge Thanks to our Sponsors for making the event awesome!

  • No Man's Land Film Festival

No Man's Land Film Festival is an all-woman adventure film festival based out of the Rocky Mountains of Colorado that meets a need and desire to highlight and connect individuals who identify as women in pursuit of the radical. We are a collaboration and celebration of humans who are deeply engaged in enhancing the female presence in the adventure arena. The goal of this festival is to connect like-minded individuals who are action-oriented, wish to support a shared vision of gender equality, have a desire to experience their passions and environments through a uniquely female lens, and above all, love adventure. Along with cultivating a deep interest in exploring the vastness of our planet from a female point of view, No Man's Land strives to create a history of motivating audiences to implement and inspire change. Our mission transcends the films presented; this festival acts as a platform for progressive thought and movement in the outdoor industry. At No Man's Land, we aim to un-define feminine in adventure and sport through film.
